It is a tradition in my family to wake up and have cinnamon rolls while we open the Christmas gifts.
These were usually Pillsbury and we loved them. It was the one thing that distracted us from the torture of having to wait for Dad to get down to the living room from his bed before we could rip apart our gifts.
Because we spent this Christmas in Ohio, I thought it would be OK to introduce my soon-to-be family to one of my own traditions.
But a girl can’t just take a can of Pillsbury to her future-in-laws and expect a standing ovation.
It doesn’t work like that.
You’ve gotta work for that praise and applause.
